The Oxford University Society
was established in 2006 as the alumni association for the University of Oxford, combining the work of the independent Oxford Society with the alumni activities of the University. The Society is an organisation within the University under Council for bringing together alumni of the University and encouraging and coordinating their support for the University, other than that concerned with fundraising. It serves as the focus for alumni relations and activities on behalf of the University.

Bulgarian Branch
In 2007, at the instigation of Charles Gill (Catz, 94), a group of enthusiasts gathered by their similar cultural experience and ideas for future joint activities got together to form an informal Oxford Club.

Since the beginning of 2008, thanks in no small part to the funding, kindly provided by the Open Society Institute (OIS) under the Alumni Grant Program,

the Society is on the road to be officially registered as a non-profit organization in accordance with Bulgarian legislation.

The Project Coordinator is Antonia Chilikova, who completed her Masters at the Centre for the Environment of the university in the academic year 2005.
On March 12, the Society had its first meeting, aiming at formulating the goals and electing the Society committee. The meeting was held in New Bulgarian University, thanks to the personal support of Associate-Professor Dr. Orlin Todorov, Vice-Rector of NBU, who is also one of the founding few.

OUS Bulgaria is an autonomous branch of the Oxford University Society and operates independently of the University. Responsibility for this website and any and all activities associated with it are the full responsibility of the Branch and its organising committee.
